This prostate enlargement is benign in nature. The prostate is a gland found in men and it is located between the bladder and the urethra. Due to the enlargement of the prostate gland the urethra is pressed down and the passing of urine becomes slow and less forceful due to it.

Mild symptoms are known to get better on their own. Minimal invasive treatment is done to rectify the problem of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Through this technique the heat therapy is used to destroy the enlarged prostate tissues pressing the urethra. Surgery is done in patients who suffer from serious condition of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Surgery is done through the urethra and may leave some side effects such as infection, bleeding and impotency, though all these are curable. Dutasteride and finasteride are the drug of choice to control the hormone that makes the prostate gland enlarged. Alpha blockers are also used as a drug of choice to treat this disease. Alfuzosin, doxazosin, tamsulosin, and terazosin are the drug of choice under the category of alph blockers. |
