The infection is mainly caused due to bacteria. Bacteria known as Chlamydia trachomatis spreads from one body to another if a person is sexually active or involved with an infected person. If a pregnant mother is infected from the disease, the chances are quite high that infection may pass from mother to child during vaginal childbirth.
